Handmade by Haggy: Linocutting at its best! (Indie Extravaganza Day 11)

It's another day in the Indie Extravaganza and particularly exciting for me as this is business I've watched grow and whose work I have in my home. Although Ninja Book Box is founded on the love of reading, which I've had all of my life, prior to founding it I ran business making hand knitted unusual toys and homewares. I learned to knit as an adult and so I'm always especially interested in businesses founded on something people came to later in life.

Haggy started linoprinting after being gifted a one day course and her prints and cards are often inspired by nature and occassionally by books. Due to the nature of linoprinting many of her items are limited edition, including these gorgeous 'Rather be Reading' cards which are now exclusively available in our shop.

Of course when I saw this limited edition Children's Book inspired print was available I had to get one for our house and it hangs proudly in our kids' bedroom now. Can you work out which four children's books inspired it?

Brilliant for New Year, new houses, or anybody who needs a little motivation to move forwards with positivity, these 'Best Foot Forward' rooster cards can also be purchased as a print and are so pretty I think they'd be cheering and motivational in many situations! I love the detail in the roosters' feathers and the gorgeous shade of red used.

Personally one of my favourite things about HandmadebyHaggy is the use of monochrome or black and white with just a splash of colour. This Swallow and Cherry print is really striking and a really uplifting look towards spring as we head into the dark winter months. It was made to celebrate HandmadebyHaggy's participation in the Cherry Fair at Brogdale National Fruit Collection in Kent.

I really urge you to check out HandmadebyHaggy next time you're looking for beautiful, simple but inspiring artwork for your home, for gifts or for cards to send. Their Christmas collection will be coming soon!

Announcing another raffle prize...HandmadebyHaggy have very kindly donated a Woodpecker print and a Bear with a Book Card to our raffle in aid of Give a Book. This will be part of prize bundle #2 (of 3) along with an annual mini box subscription to Ninja Book Box, 20 other books from various authors and indie publishers, an artwork commission, jewellery and stationery!

Catch up with the rest of the Indie Extravaganza so far here and check back tomorrow for another incredible small business feature.
