Bout of Books!

Hello everyone! Apologies for the length of time between posts, it's been crazy launching the bookshop and trying to get all of the August boxes out. The last batch should be going today and I'm settling in for a week of reading. Although my days as a traditional book blogger are mostly behind me, I still have a really soft spot for readathons and Bout of Books has always been one of my favourites. If you're not familiar, it's super low key - the aim is just to read more than you usually would, and it runs for an entire week so no crazy staying up for hours!

I've compiled a bit of a TBR (which I'm sure I will promptly ignore but we can try right?). Here's what I'm planning to read this week:

The Gallows Pole by Benjamin Myers. I need to finish this for our book club, and after a bit of a tough start I've really begun to get into it, so I'll be starting off with this.

Of course I have to have some graphic novels in any readathon stack, more for a palate cleanser than anything else. I've been collecting up indie ones and you may well see them appear in the bookshop once I'm done. For this readathon I've gone for volume 1 of Giant Days and volume 2 of Lumberjanes.

I'm very behind on my 32 by 32 challenge so I've pulled my only non-indie pick from that shelf and I'm looking forward to a little bit of Anne Tyler, because I haven't read any in a while. Breathing Lessons apparently also won the Pullitzer Prize, so there's that! I've also added Know Your Place: Essays on the Working Class by the Working Class to my pile as it's also on my 32 by 32 shelf and I really should have read it already!

It's a fairly realistic pile from me for probably the first time ever! I also plan to check out some other participants blogs and probably do some twitter chatting. Are you taking part in Bout of Books? What are you reading this week? Let us know in the comments!
